How I Got Started Flying Drones
It all started with a gift i’ll never forget!
A close friend/bar regular of mine had a DJI Mini 2 sitting around collecting dust. He knew I had had a serious passion for videography, so one day, he handed it to me and said “You’ll actually use this.” And he was right I definitely did.
That drone didn’t just get me flying it opened up a whole new world. From the moment I took it up in the air, I was hooked. But I didn’t just want to fly for fun. I wanted to figure out how to make a living doing this. That led me straight to the FAA Part 107 License. I dove into that material for two weeks straight, and passed the exam in under 30 minutes. That moment marked the official start of my drone career.
The real game changer? Discovering FPV (First Person View) drones.
Once I experienced the flow, the speed, and the freedom of flying FPV, It was a wrap. I went from flying casually to obsessing over every build , every battery, every maneuver. My poor DJI Mini 2 barely gets picked up now.
Fast forward to today…
I’ve built multiple drones from the ground up, captured some incredible footage, and launched Azevedo Aerials, my own drone cinematography company.
The Goal?
To scale this passion into a large-scale production business, working with clients, events, & brands who want a fresh perspective.
It’s wild to think that all of this started with a gift. Just goes to show that sometimes all it takes is one spark to launch a whole new path.
